The Asia Wine & Spirits Awards (AWSA) intended to open doors instantly for wine and spirits producers and their distributors who are already in the Asian markets or plan to enter the Asian markets.

In the Awards, all wines will be judged in blind tasting by National Champion Sommeliers from all over Asia together with a panel of Master Sommeliers led by Brian Julyan MS, CEO of The Court of Master Sommeliers. From 2015 and onward, the latest OIV judging system will apply in the AWSA.

Sommeliers are the professionals who design wine lists for their establishments and advise customers on selection of wines. Medals awarded by those top sommeliers who represent the most important hotels and restaurants in Asia may prove the award winnings wines have good potential in the Asian markets. The producers and their distributors of the award winning wines may further promote their wines together with the certificates and medal stickers issued by the AWSA.

All the award winning wines will be featured and tasted at the Restaurant & Bar Expo after the Awards. This is a good opportunity to present the award winning wines to sommeliers and managers from the food and beverage industry when they visit the Expo.

The AWSA was founded by Prof. Tommy Lam. Formerly known as China Wine Awards Judged only by Top Sommeliers, the Awards was first launched in China in 2009. In 2014, the Awards moved to Hong Kong and was renamed as the Asia Wine & Spirits Awards.
